Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Association launches Digital Passport for rural makers
The Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Association (WATA) has introduced a free Folk & Field Maker Farms Digital Passport that links travelers with hands‑on artisan workshops across the state. The program runs through December 20 2026 and offers experiences such as traditional cheesemaking, butchering, tea blending, felting and flower arranging.
Sheila Everhart, WATA’s executive director, said, “Though traditional skills often skip a generation, they do not have to be lost,” emphasizing the passport’s role in preserving rural heritage. The passport requires no app; users sign up online and receive the pass via text or email. Check‑ins at participating farms earn points that enter users into prize draws, including a $50 gift certificate to the Lake Nokomis Cranberry Marsh and Gift Shop.
Participants must contact each farm directly to confirm workshop dates, times and any material fees. The launch also highlighted local farmer Pam Jahnke, who grew up on a 200‑acre dairy farm and embodies the “farm work ethic” the program seeks to celebrate.
