Wisconsin athletics host swim season opener and volleyball Big Ten match

The University of Wisconsin athletic programs held recent events in Madison. The women's swim and dive team commenced their 2026-27 season with an intrasquad meet, where Team Black defeated Team Red with a score of 617–596. Notable performances included Maddie Waggoner and Sarah Larsen in the freestyle events, and Maggie Wanezek, who secured multiple first-place finishes in backstroke and freestyle events.

In volleyball, the No. 6 ranked Wisconsin team defeated the No. 20 Oregon Ducks in their Big Ten opener. Despite Oregon taking an early set lead and Sjakkie Donkers recording a career-high 20 kills, Wisconsin won the match with a final score of three sets to one (24-26, 25-19, 26-24, 25-14).
