Wisconsin Badgers fall 17-7 to No. 12 UCLA
The Wisconsin Badgers suffered a 17-7 defeat against No. 12 UCLA at the Rose Bowl, dropping their overall record to 4-2 and their Big Ten record to 2-1. Head coach Luke Fickell attributed the loss to a lack of discipline, noting that the team committed 10 penalties for 102 yards.
While the Wisconsin offense struggled, producing only 214 yards, the defense successfully limited UCLA’s run game, holding star running back Wayne Knight to 23 yards on 13 carries. However, the defense struggled to get off the field on third downs, as UCLA converted 13 of 20 attempts and controlled the ball for over 37 minutes.
Individual performances included safety Marvin Burks Jr., who recorded two interceptions, and edge rusher Nick Clayton, who earned his first collegiate sack. Following the loss, UCLA moved up to No. 9 in the national rankings.
