Wisconsin Badgers football fall camp highlights quarterback and depth updates

Wisconsin Badgers football fall camp is highlighting key developments in the roster's depth and player performance. At the quarterback position, Colton Joseph has established himself as the clear leader of the offense. Assistant coach Kenny Guiton noted that Joseph has moved past the initial pressure of his new role and is finding his stride. Behind Joseph, true freshman Ryan Hopkins and Louisville transfer Deuce Adams are competing for the backup role, while Carter Smith and an injured Danny O’Neil also remain in the rotation.

On the offensive line, the team faces depth questions at the center position. While fifth-year veteran Austin Kawecki is expected to be a significant upgrade at starter, the depth behind him is a point of concern. Offensive line coach Eric Mateos reported that second-string center Ryan Cory is showing improved football IQ and execution compared to last season.

Individual standout performances have also emerged during recent practices. Wide receiver Eugene Hilton has shown significant progress, recording five touchdowns during team periods and demonstrating strong chemistry with Joseph. Joseph himself has been described as dynamic during camp, showing proficiency with both his legs and his passing ability.
