Wisconsin Badgers add new talent and coaching staff ahead of 2026‑27 season

The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team will rely on transfer forward Eian Elmer, who came off a historic undefeated season at Miami (Ohio). Elmer, a native of Covington, Kentucky, averaged 12.7 points and 5.9 rebounds last season and said his goal under coach Greg Gard is “Be a first-round pick.” He is expected to be a key contributor as the Badgers look to rebound from an early exit in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

On the football side, the Badgers have introduced five new position coaches for the 2026 season. Offensive line coach Eric Mateos is ranked as the most impactful, with offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes noting “I think you’re seeing improvement from our line.” Cornerback coach Robert Steeples is highlighted for his expertise in man coverage, addressing a previously weak secondary. The changes come alongside a new athletic director, Shawn Eichorst, and the construction of new facilities near Camp Randall Stadium.
