Wisconsin gubernatorial candidates launch major ad campaigns

The Wisconsin gubernatorial general election has entered a high-spending advertising phase as Republican Representative Tom Tiffany and Democratic candidate David Crowley exchange attacks.

The Tiffany campaign has launched a seven-figure statewide advertising campaign targeting Crowley, the Milwaukee County Executive. The ads characterize Crowley as a “failed executive” who has engaged in reckless spending, mishandled health insurance, and raised property and sales taxes.

In response, Crowley has attributed fiscal issues in Milwaukee to former County Executive Scott Walker, claiming Walker left behind a $400 million debt for property taxpayers. Crowley also criticized Tiffany as a “MAGA extremist” who lacks independence from Donald Trump.

The Democratic Governors Association has also initiated a seven-figure statewide ad buy. Their campaign, titled “Pander,” labels Tiffany a “pandering politician” with a radical agenda, citing his support for January 6 rioters and his voting record on Social Security and abortion access.
