Wisconsin high school football season begins amid stadium reopening

High school football season has commenced in Wisconsin, marked by significant local developments and various game results across the state.

In Wauwatosa, Hart Park has officially reopened for football following extensive repairs necessitated by historic flooding a year ago. The flooding caused approximately $1.5 million in damage to the stadium, bleachers, and turf. Mayor Dennis McBride noted that while the drainage system remained largely intact, the field turf required complete replacement. The repairs were funded through insurance, city reserves, and donations from groups such as the Tosa Foundation. The reopening allowed Tosa East to return to their home field for their season opener.

Across the greater Milwaukee area, several high school matchups concluded with notable performances. Defending state champions Arrowhead secured a 35-7 victory over Marquette, while Homestead defeated Germantown 24-18. Other significant wins included Waukesha South’s 49-7 victory over West Bend East and Kenosha Bradford’s 52-12 win against Badger. St. Francis also recorded a dominant 50-0 shutout against Brookfield Academy.
