WiseTech Global cuts 2,000 jobs to drive AI productivity

WiseTech Global, an Australian logistics software provider, is implementing significant workforce reductions as part of an artificial intelligence-driven productivity strategy. The company plans to eliminate approximately 2,000 jobs—roughly 30% of its 7,000-person workforce—with cuts concentrated in product development and customer service. CEO Zubin Appoo stated that AI integration has fundamentally changed how the company builds products and supports customers, noting that smaller, AI-equipped teams are delivering projects significantly faster than before.

Despite the layoffs, WiseTech reported substantial financial growth. Annual revenue surged to $US1.4 billion, a 76% to 79% increase, bolstered by the acquisition of the Texas-based company E2open. While total bottom-line profit saw an 11% decline to $US178.7 million, underlying net profit after tax grew by 29% to $US313.5 million. The company's AI transformation has already contributed $34 million in savings to the balance sheet.
