Wissen police respond to report of giant snake in bedroom

Police in Wissen, Germany, responded to an emergency call late Tuesday evening, October 13, 2026, after a resident reported a massive snake in his bedroom. The caller expressed significant concern regarding the potential danger of the intruder.

Upon arrival, officers from the Betzdorf police inspection investigated the bedroom and discovered that the animal was not a large or dangerous snake, but rather a small slow worm. Although they resemble snakes, slow worms are actually legless lizards and are harmless to humans. Officers safely relocated the reptile outdoors, concluding the unusual intervention without further incident.
