WIT Studio announces upcoming Attack on Titan update

WIT Studio has announced that it will make a new announcement regarding the Attack on Titan franchise on August 20. The studio shared a cryptic message stating, “It looks like they are hosting a special dinner ‘at that time’,” accompanied by an image featuring key characters Eren, Armin, Mikasa, Levi, Hange, and Erwin.

This development has sparked speculation regarding a potential return to the series, despite the anime having concluded its main story in 2023. While the original manga by Hajime Isayama is complete, producer Tetsuya Kinoshita previously indicated that the franchise would continue through various projects such as films, concerts, and game collaborations.

In a separate reflection on the series' history, WIT Studio CEO George Wada addressed the studio's transition of the anime to MAPPA during the final season. Wada explained that the immense burden of the production and a desire for creators to pursue original works led to the change. He noted that the collaboration between WIT Studio, which handled the first three seasons, and MAPPA was the necessary path to ensure the work could be successfully completed.
