Witches Paddle community events held in Ilwaco and Comox Valley

Annual Witches Paddle community events took place on October 4 in both Ilwaco, Washington, and Royston, British Columbia.

In Ilwaco, the 5th annual event at Black Lake saw a large turnout featuring participants in various costumes using paddle boats, paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes. Organizers Natasha Beals and Michele Gutierrez moved the event to the beginning of the month to avoid the dangerous weather conditions experienced during the previous year. The festival included a costume contest, themed shopping, and music.

In the Comox Valley, the 6th annual Witches Paddle in Royston drew approximately 50 participants. Organized by Sarah Buckley-Jones, the event features paddling through estuary waters. The gathering serves as a community fundraiser for the Comox Valley Transition Society and includes competitions such as best-dressed and best cackler.
