Withings to charge new users for third-party data synchronization
Withings is introducing a paid subscription model, Withings Plus, for the automatic synchronization of health data with third-party platforms. This change primarily affects new users who create accounts on or after October 13, 2026.
Under the new policy, users with new accounts must pay for a subscription to sync data with services such as Apple Health and Google Health. In the United States, the annual cost is approximately $99.50, while in Europe, the service costs €99.50 per year or €9.95 per month.
Existing users who created their accounts on or before October 12, 2026, will retain free synchronization privileges. This benefit is tied to the account rather than specific hardware, meaning long-term users can purchase new Withings devices without losing free sync capabilities.
While the company has not explicitly linked the subscription to specific new features, reports indicate the change coincides with the development of an AI connector intended to allow health data to be shared with AI assistants like ChatGPT. Users who opt out of the subscription can still view their data within the native Withings app and export information manually via PDF.
