Witness testifies in Loan Danilo Peña disappearance trial

During the trial regarding the alleged abduction and concealment of Loan Danilo Peña, an ambulance driver, Abundio Escobar, provided testimony at the National Gendarmerie's 48th Squadron. Escobar stated that on the day of the disappearance, June 13, 2024, in 9 de Julio, Corrientes, he observed a Ford Ranger belonging to María Victoria Caillava and Carlos Guido Pérez at the grandmother's residence at 11:30 and again around 14:00.

Escobar further testified that between 17:00 and 17:15, he heard what he described as “desperate screams” from a child, suggesting it sounded as if someone’s mouth had been covered. He also noted seeing Antonio Bernardino Benítez, the husband of Loan's aunt, before entering the woods to search for the boy.

The defendants in the case include former municipal official María Victoria Caillava, Navy Captain Carlos Guido Pérez, former police commissioner Walter Maciel, Laudelina Peña, Antonio Bernardino Benítez, Mónica Del Carmen Millapi, and Daniel “Fierrito” Ramírez.
