Witold Płóciennik: Renowned cinematographer missing in Poland
Authorities in Poland have launched an intensive search for Witold Płóciennik, a highly regarded 56-year-old cinematographer known for his work on productions such as ‘Klangor’ and ‘Ikar. Legenda Mietka Kosza’. He was last seen in the vicinity of Lake Lubiąż in Lubniewice, Lubuskie Voivodeship.
The search operation involves a large-scale mobilization of police, firefighters, WOPR rescuers, and the military, including the Military Gendarmerie. Specialized equipment is being utilized, including helicopters, drones with thermal imaging, quads, and sonar to search land, water, and air.
Płóciennik, who was recently working on a Netflix production in Gorzów, left his vehicle parked in the center of Lubniewice. He was last reported to be near a forest path after sending photos from the lake area to acquaintances. He is described as being approximately 185 cm tall, with a stocky build, bald, and having a gray beard. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing blue shorts, dark patterned socks, and carrying a dark green camouflage backpack.
In a separate incident, police in Tychy are also searching for 50-year-old Piotr Gąsiorek, who went missing on August 26, 2026, after leaving home on a bicycle.
