Wittelsheim municipal election annulled by Strasbourg court

The Strasbourg Administrative Court has annulled the municipal election results in Wittelsheim, Alsace, which had previously elected Raphaële Schober of the Rassemblement National (RN). Schober had won the seat by a narrow margin of only 17 votes, making Wittelsheim the only municipality in the Alsace region won by the RN during the March elections.

The court cited two specific irregularities that compromised the integrity of the vote. First, a candidate on the third-place list failed to declare their Italian nationality, violating the electoral code. Second, a member of the RN list published information regarding an electoral controversy at the end of the campaign, preventing political opponents from responding and thereby altering the sincerity of the ballot.
