Wittenberg loses only four-star hotel following sudden closure
The Best Western Soibelmanns, the only four-star hotel in Wittenberg, has unexpectedly ceased operations. The closure occurred abruptly, leaving guests facing locked doors and making the hotel unreachable by telephone. Local authorities and the tourist information office were reportedly not notified in advance.
According to local utility providers, the electricity to the building had been disconnected prior to the closure. While the hotel remains listed on the websites of both the Soibelmann Group and Best Western, new bookings are no longer possible. The Soibelmann Group has not yet provided a public statement regarding the reasons for the shutdown or the future of the location.
The loss of the 80-room facility is considered a significant blow to the local tourism industry, particularly as the region enters the busy September and October months. The hotel served as a major venue for events and was the city's second-largest hotel. Local tourist information services are currently working to redirect affected guests to alternative accommodations.
