Wizards of the Coast and Blizzard Rumored to Launch Warcraft-Themed MTG Set

A leak posted on the Dungeons & Dragons website Roll D20 shows a pre‑order banner for a D&D set themed around World of Warcraft, with a preview scheduled for Gen Con from July 30 to August 2, 2026. The leak suggests that Wizards of the Coast, a Hasbro subsidiary that owns both the D&D and Magic: The Gathering brands, may bring the Warcraft franchise back to tabletop gaming for the first time since 2005.

Speculation in the Magic community extends to a possible Warcraft‑themed Magic: The Gathering set slated for 2027, aligning with the Universes‑Beyond series that will focus more on fantasy. Blizzard president Johanna Faries, speaking after Microsoft’s acquisition of the company, emphasized a strategy to broaden Blizzard’s brands beyond video games, hinting that such cross‑media collaborations are under consideration.
