Wizards of the Coast announces God Packs for Magic: The Gathering
Wizards of the Coast has announced a significant overhaul to the Magic: The Gathering booster pack formula, set to debut with the Nauctis: The Sunken Realm set in 2027. The most notable addition is the introduction of ‘God Packs,’ which consist exclusively of rare and mythic rare cards.
God Packs will be available in both Play and Collector Boosters, though the odds of finding them differ. One source indicates a frequency of approximately one in every 33 regular booster boxes, while another reports a rate of 1 in 1,000 Play Boosters and 1 in 300 Collector Boosters. In Play Boosters, a God Pack is expected to include 10 non-foil rares or mythics, a special celebration card, and various ‘Booster Fun’ variants. Collector God Packs will include a foil land, three foil default frame rares or mythics, and several ‘Booster Fun’ variants.
Alongside these additions, Wizards of the Coast is implementing several reductions and adjustments. Regular Play Boosters will no longer include guaranteed foils, though the drop rates for foil rare and mythic cards in the wildcard slot will increase. Additionally, Collector Boosters will be reduced in size to 12 cards by removing three foil common and uncommon slots.
