Wizards of the Coast reveals gameplay for D&D Warlock at Gamescom
At Gamescom 2026, several major video game titles were showcased, primarily focusing on new projects from Wizards of the Coast and Dotemu.
Invoke Studios and Wizards of the Coast revealed extensive gameplay for ‘Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons’. This third-person, single-player action-adventure game is set in the dark fantasy realm of Darkon within the Ravenloft setting. Players control Kaatri, a weapons master who makes a pact with the witch Tasha to harness ‘Raw Magic’. Unlike traditional turn-based D&D games, Warlock emphasizes real-time combat and systemic magic that can be used for both fighting and environmental exploration. The title is slated for a 2027 release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Dotemu and Old Skull Games provided gameplay for ‘Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster’, a 2D stealth-action platformer. The game follows an Eshin assassin named Vihneek through the subterranean tunnels of the Gnaw. Players will use heightened senses and warpstone to unlock abilities and climb the clan hierarchy. This title is also expected in 2027 for PC and consoles.
Additionally, Dotemu and Homo Ludens announced ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern’, a management simulation for PC arriving in 2027. Players act as a tavern keeper in the Forgotten Realms, managing staff and serving adventurers to help them prepare for quests.
