Wizink CEO Iheb Nafaa resigns amid Unicaja negotiations

Iheb Nafaa has stepped down as CEO of Wizink for personal reasons. He is succeeded by Joaquim Saurina, who will transition from non-executive chairman to executive chairman and CEO.

Nafaa’s departure occurs as the bank has recently returned to profitability, reporting gains in August for the first time since the first half of 2023. This follows a period of significant losses, though recent figures show a reduction in deficits compared to previous years.

Saurina will lead the bank during ongoing negotiations with Unicaja regarding a potential corporate operation. The discussions between the two entities have been underway since at least April. Wizink, which is owned by the fund Värde, specializes in credit cards and consumer loans and maintains significant operations in both Spain and Portugal.
