Wizz Air cancels Middle East flights and reduces winter capacity
Wizz Air has canceled all planned flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi for the 2026/2027 winter season, running from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027. The airline cited airspace restrictions and closures in the Middle East, which force aircraft to use significantly longer routes, increasing flight times and operational costs. The company stated that operating these routes is no longer commercially viable under current conditions.
In addition to the UAE cancellations, flights to Amman, Jordan, are also affected. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued warnings regarding flight safety in conflict-affected areas, recommending that airlines avoid Jordanian airspace.
Beyond the Middle East, Wizz Air is reducing its planned capacity for the 2026/2027 winter season by at least 5 percent due to rising operational costs and industry uncertainties. These reductions will impact several Western Balkan markets, including Belgrade, Skopje, Tuzla, and Pristina. Specific route suspensions and frequency reductions include services to Madrid, Larnaca, Dortmund, Beauvais, Bergamo, Barcelona, and several other European destinations.
