Wizz Air delays Abu Dhabi flight resumption to January 2027

Wizz Air has postponed the resumption of six European routes to Abu Dhabi until January 10, 2027. The delay affects direct connections from Sofia, Budapest, Krakow, Katowice, Cluj-Napoca, and Larnaca.

The airline cited several operational challenges for the decision, including recent updates to recommendations from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Additionally, the ongoing closure of Iraqi airspace necessitates longer flight paths. For operations using Airbus A321neo aircraft, these longer routes may require technical fuel stops, which, combined with current fuel prices, makes the flights economically unviable under the current circumstances.

Previously, the airline had planned to restart these services in late October 2026. Once resumed in January 2027, the Sofia to Abu Dhabi route is expected to operate four times weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
