Wizz Air expands Balkan network with new Tuzla and potential Bilbao routes

Wizz Air has announced the launch of a new flight route connecting Tuzla International Airport in Bosnia and Herzegovina to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Germany. Scheduled to begin operations on March 24, 2027, the service will run twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.

In addition to the Tuzla expansion, Wizz Air is evaluating new connections from its Balkan bases—including Tuzla, Belgrade, Skopje, and Podgorica—to Bilbao, Spain. The airline is looking to address the lack of point-to-point connectivity between the Balkans and the Basque Country as Bilbao seeks to diversify its tourism markets and improve international accessibility.

The expansion comes as Wizz Air anticipates a significant increase in capacity at Bilbao Airport, expecting to offer 1.4 million seats across thirteen routes in 2027, up from approximately 600,000 seats this year.
