Wizz Air expands operations in Montenegro and negotiates with Zagreb Airport
Wizz Air is planning to expand its operations in Montenegro to reduce seasonal dependency and increase year-round connectivity with European destinations. CEO József Váradi stated that the airline aims to make Montenegro more accessible outside the summer months, noting that the company has already transported one million passengers to and from the country this year. The expansion plans include introducing new routes, adding more aircraft, and creating new jobs.
Meanwhile, negotiations are ongoing between Wizz Air and Zagreb Airport in Croatia. The primary obstacle to an agreement remains cost-related issues. This comes as Zagreb Airport reports a slowdown in passenger growth, with September traffic seeing a 3.3 percent decrease. To combat declining growth and attract airlines, the airport has launched a new incentive scheme with lower thresholds for eligibility, effective until December 31.
