Wizz Air flight from Rome to Tel Aviv delayed by security scare

A Wizz Air flight from Rome to Tel Aviv experienced a significant delay on Friday after a passenger's behavior triggered a security alarm. After boarding was completed, a man abruptly requested to disembark without providing an explanation, causing alarm among crew and passengers.

The incident prompted the captain to halt the flight, leading to the evacuation of approximately 300 passengers to the terminal. Local police were called, the man was detained for questioning, and the aircraft underwent additional security screenings and baggage unloading.

It was later determined that the individual's request to leave was motivated by a fear that the flight's schedule would cause him to arrive after the start of Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest, during which observant Jews refrain from travel. While the flight was initially scheduled to land at Ben Gurion Airport at 6:45 p.m., it eventually arrived at approximately 10 p.m., well after Shabbat had begun.
