Wizz Air plans to establish base at Podgorica Airport
Wizz Air is planning to establish a base at Podgorica Airport in Montenegro. To facilitate this, Airports of Montenegro has submitted a request to the Ministry of Transport seeking government approval to lease business space and land to the airline.
The proposed lease includes approximately 58 square meters of temporary administrative space in the landside zone, 12 square meters of office space in the airport's administrative building, and land for aircraft technical maintenance facilities.
The project is viewed as a significant step toward improving Montenegro's air connectivity, increasing passenger numbers, developing tourism, and strengthening the competitiveness of Montenegrin airports. Government approval is required because the Airports of Montenegro Board of Directors currently lacks the authority to make legally binding decisions regarding state property due to registration delays in the Central Register of Business Entities.
