Wizz Air Sofia Marathon to feature eight ministers and 12,000 participants

The 43rd edition of the Wizz Air Sofia Marathon is scheduled to take place on October 10 and 11, 2026. The event features eight Bulgarian ministers participating in various distances, led by Minister of Youth and Sports Encho Keryazov, who will compete in the 5 km race.

World champion snowboarder Tervel Zamfirov is also set to compete in the 10 km distance. The marathon expects over 12,000 participants across five different distances. Organizers noted that the event has become a significant driver for sports tourism, attracting approximately 2,000 international visitors who contribute to the local economy.

To enhance the experience, the marathon has partnered with four local museums and galleries, including the National Gallery, which will offer free entry to participants. Organizers have already announced the dates for the 44th edition, which will be held on October 9 and 10, 2027.
