Wizz Air to lay off 172 employees in Romania

Wizz Air is planning collective layoffs in Romania, affecting 172 employees across four operational bases. The restructuring is scheduled to take place in October and November 2026.

The job cuts target execution-level roles, including pilots, co-pilots, and cabin crew members. The largest reduction is planned for the Craiova base, which will lose 47 positions. The Bucharest Băneasa base faces 46 cuts, followed by Iași with 44, and Cluj-Napoca with 36.

Specific roles identified for elimination include command pilots, first officers, senior cabin attendants, and junior cabin attendants. The company noted that certain positions are being categorized as identical or similar for the purposes of this restructuring based on their level of responsibility and nature of activity.
