WK League referee faces investigation over alleged remarks toward Ji So-yeon

A controversy has erupted in the WK League following allegations that a referee made a sexually harassing remark toward player Ji So-yeon during a match between Suwon FC Women and Seoul City Hall.

Ji So-yeon, a prominent figure in South Korean women's football, reported that while she was protesting a series of fouls, referee Bae Seon-young made a comment via radio communication suggesting that Ji was being “sensitive” because she was “on her period.” Ji confronted the official, stating that such remarks are grounds for disciplinary action, after which she received a yellow card.

While the referee initially denied the remark, she reportedly later clarified that the comment was made among the officiating crew. Suwon FC Women is preparing a formal complaint to the Korea Women's Football Federation. The Federation has stated it will investigate the incident by reviewing reports from match observers and referees to determine the facts and potential disciplinary measures.
