WKBL 2026-2027 Women's Professional Basketball Season to Begin November 1

The 2026-2027 Women's Professional Basketball season is scheduled to commence on November 1, featuring a season opener between Cheongju KB Stars and BNK Sum at the Cheongju Gymnasium.

Significant structural changes have been implemented for the upcoming season. The regular league will expand from 30 games across six rounds to 35 games across seven rounds. Consequently, the playoff format will shift from a best-of-five series to a best-of-three series.

The Asia Quarter regulations have also been broadened. Previously limited to Japanese players, the quota now includes athletes from the Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan. Additionally, the number of Asia Quarter players allowed to participate in a single game has increased from one to two per team.

KB Stars will host their home opener with various fan engagement events, including commemorative giveaways and a donation ceremony for local community support in Cheongju.
