Wladimir Klitschko seeks guardianship of daughter's inheritance
Wladimir Klitschko has filed an urgent petition in a Los Angeles court seeking temporary guardianship of the estate of his 11-year-old daughter, Kaya. The legal move follows the August death of Kaya’s mother, actress Hayden Panettiere, who died at age 36 from an accidental drug overdose and reportedly left no will.
As the sole heir, Kaya is entitled to Panettiere’s entire estate. Klitschko, who has had full custody of Kaya for several years, expressed concerns that the assets could be “lost, damaged or dissipated” without immediate legal protection. He cited several security risks, including reports of an unauthorized individual gaining access to Panettiere’s home prior to her death and the fact that federal agents removed certain items from the residence as part of an ongoing investigation.
Court documents also mention that some personal belongings, including jewelry, are currently unaccounted for, and that non-family members may have accessed or destroyed Panettiere’s electronic communications. Klitschko’s request aims to provide him with the legal standing to manage the probate process and ensure the eventual return of property held by law enforcement.
