WNBA announces 2027 draft lottery date and odds

The WNBA has scheduled the 2027 draft lottery for Sunday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. ET, to be broadcast on ESPN. The event follows a UConn vs. Louisville women’s basketball game.

Following a successful season that included clinching a postseason spot, the Dallas Wings will not participate in the lottery. This marks an end to a period where the franchise won the lottery in both 2025 and 2026, securing top picks for players Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd.

Six teams are eligible for the drawing: Houston, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Toronto, and Washington. Houston and Toronto currently hold the highest odds for the No. 1 pick, each with a 33% chance. Washington holds the third-best chance at 16%, followed by Seattle (9.3%), Portland (5.2%), and Los Angeles (3.6%).

The draft itself is scheduled for April 12. Potential top prospects mentioned include JuJu Watkins, Hannah Hidalgo, and Madison Booker, though player eligibility remains subject to NCAA rules regarding a fifth year of collegiate play.
