WNBA games disrupted by fans throwing sex toys onto court

WNBA games have faced repeated disruptions due to fans throwing sex toys onto the court. Two recent incidents occurred within a short timeframe: one during a match between the Los Angeles Sparks and Atlanta Dream at Crypto.com Arena, and another during a game between the Chicago Sky and Golden State Valkyries at Wintrust Arena.

In the Los Angeles incident, the game was halted while player Jihyun Park was at the free-throw line. Atlanta Dream player Angel Reese was seen pointing out the perpetrator, who was subsequently apprehended by security and arrested. The individual has received an indefinite ban from all WNBA, NBA, and league-affiliated events.

The Chicago incident involved multiple objects being thrown during the third quarter. Chicago Sky player Natasha Cloud criticized the behavior during a post-game press conference, describing the actions as “weak” and disrespectful to women.

The WNBA has issued statements emphasizing that player and fan safety is a top priority. Under league security standards, any fan intentionally throwing objects onto the court faces immediate ejection, a minimum one-year ban, and potential arrest and prosecution by local authorities.
