WNBA playoff field finalized for 2026 season

The eight teams for the 2026 WNBA playoffs have been officially determined. Dallas secured the eighth and final postseason berth following a 96–78 victory over Portland on August 25. Other teams that have already qualified include Minnesota, Golden State, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Indiana, New York, and Washington.

While Minnesota holds the first-place position with a 31–10 record, the race for the top seed remains active following an Atlanta victory over the Lynx. Golden State sits in second place, currently 2.5 games behind Minnesota. The league will pause for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup from September 4–13, with regular season play resuming on September 17 and the playoffs scheduled to begin on September 27.

In recent developments, the Minnesota Lynx have signed veteran DeWanna Bonner. Meanwhile, the Dallas Wings are managing the loss of top draft pick Azzi Fudd due to a season-ending leg injury. The seeding for the first round remains a point of focus as teams approach the final stretch of the regular season.
