Wockhardt Hospitals performs kidney transplant from father to daughter
A 55-year-old father from Bhayandar successfully donated a kidney to his 22-year-old daughter at Wockhardt Hospitals in Mira Road. The daughter's kidney failure was discovered unexpectedly during a routine blood test, which was followed by sonography that revealed shrunken kidneys.
After being placed on dialysis, the family sought a transplant option. Despite a recent diagnosis of diabetes, the father underwent medical evaluations and was deemed fit to serve as a donor. The procedure was led by Consultant Nephrologist Dr. Puneet Bhuwania and a multidisciplinary surgical team.
