Wodonga netball breaks hoodoo with victory over Yarrawonga

In the Ovens and Murray Football Netball League, Wodonga secured a 52-42 victory against Yarrawonga, marking their first win against the opponent since their 2015 premiership. The win is noted as a significant achievement for Wodonga, which has not played in finals since that title, whereas Yarrawonga has secured four championships in the intervening years.

Coach Noel Halton credited the win to increased defensive pressure. He highlighted Cara Woodman, who transitioned from a goaler last season to a circle defender this year, noting her growing confidence and effectiveness alongside Asha Hodgkin.

Key contributors for Wodonga included Molly Moylan and Abbey Bloye, who scored 27 and 25 goals respectively. Yarrawonga's scoring was led by Kaleisha Pell, Madeleine Allan, and Bridget Cassar.
