Wody Polskie signs water security agreement with Wisłoka River basin municipalities

Wody Polskie and the Association of Municipalities of the Wisłoka River Basin have signed an agreement to improve water security and climate change adaptation. The partnership aims to help local governments better prepare for droughts, floods, and water shortages, which are becoming increasingly frequent due to climate shifts. The cooperation will also focus on protecting aquatic ecosystems, such as Natura 2000 sites, and promoting hydroenergetics and tourism through the development of river-based recreation and cycling paths.

In a related development regarding water management in the region, the Mayor of Koszyce has submitted 22 public information requests to Wody Polskie. The local government is seeking clarification on documentation related to climate resilience projects, specifically regarding whether these procedures could eventually be used for the construction of a polder in the Koszyce-Szczurowa area. While Wody Polskie stated that upcoming meetings are focused on World Bank framework documents rather than specific polder consultations, local authorities are seeking transparency regarding the potential future impact on their municipalities.
