Wojciech Szczęsny drops to third-choice goalkeeper at FC Barcelona

Wojciech Szczęsny has reportedly fallen to third choice in the FC Barcelona goalkeeper hierarchy following a performance against Racing Santander. After replacing the injured Joan García for 45 minutes, Szczęsny made an error that drew scrutiny, despite the team winning the match 7-2.

Following this, manager Hansi Flick opted to start Dominik Livaković in the subsequent match against Sevilla. This shift suggests that Livaković has moved into the second-choice position, leaving the veteran Polish goalkeeper as the third option.

Spanish media, including 'Sport', have noted that this situation is highly unusual for Barcelona. Historically, the third goalkeeper role has been held by young academy players or reserve players. The current squad presents a rare case in Europe of possessing three high-level, international-caliber goalkeepers: Joan García, Dominik Livaković, and Wojciech Szczęsny.
