Wojciech Szymański, the owner of the meat and confectionery company Lukullus and a former prominent figure on Poland's wealth rankings, has passed away at the age of 68.

Under his leadership, the club achieved its historic promotion to the highest Polish football league during the 2002/2003 season. He was also a co-owner of Widzew Łódź and supported various cycling teams.

In 2004, Szymański and his wife Elżbieta were ranked 138th on the 'Wprost' weekly list of the wealthiest Poles, with an estimated fortune of 55 million PLN. His death was confirmed by both his company, Lukullus, and MKS Świt Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki.
