Wolf attack confirmed in Spatenbräufilz, Germany

A wolf attack in the Spatenbräufilz area near Egling has been genetically confirmed. At the end of June, a wolf targeted a flock of Moorschnucke sheep that were being used for moorland maintenance.

The incident resulted in one sheep being found dead, one suffering severe injuries that required euthanasia, and one sheep sustaining minor injuries. The remaining flock has been moved to safety, and local hunters and sheep farmers have been notified.

The Spatenbräufilz is a protected area undergoing renaturation by the Landesbund für Vogelschutz. The Moorschnucke sheep are specifically utilized in this region to graze on vegetation and keep the moorland free from encroaching bushes.
