Wolf attacks target Iberian pig farms in Salamanca
Wolf attacks have targeted an Iberian pig farm in Santo Domingo de Ledesma, Salamanca, during the bellota season. According to ASAJA Salamanca, the incident resulted in one dead animal, one missing, and one injured.
This marks the third reported attack in less than a week for the organization. The victims are high-value Iberian pigs raised through the 'montanera' process, where animals graze freely on acorns and grass. The economic impact is significant due to the premium market value of these specific animals.
Local farmers have expressed deep concern regarding the security of their livestock and the continuity of their operations. ASAJA Salamanca is calling on the Junta de Castilla y León to implement effective preventive measures, provide agile compensation for losses, and account for the costs of increased surveillance and the loss of missing or injured animals.
