Wolf Biermann documentary wins Gilde-Filmpreis

The documentary film ‘BIERMANN’, directed by Jens Meurer, has been awarded the Gilde-Filmpreis for Best Documentary at the Leipzig Film Art Fair. The award ceremony featured the appearance of the legendary singer-songwriter and lyricist Wolf Biermann.

Laudatories Daniel Bäldle and Dr. Anne Kellner praised the film for its ability to connect unseen historical archives with the poet's energy, describing it as a ‘reconciling feat’ that offers perspectives from both East and West Germany. The film, distributed by Majestic Filmverleih, is scheduled for its world premiere at the Hamburg Film Festival on October 2.

Other notable winners at the awards included the feature film ‘Vaterland’ for Best Feature Film and ‘La Bola Negra’ for Best International Film.
