Wolfenbüttel mayoral election features seven candidates

Wolfenbüttel is set to elect a new mayor on September 13, with the upcoming term lasting eight years. Seven candidates are competing for the position, representing diverse professional backgrounds ranging from federal administration experience to childcare management.

Among the candidates is Sascha Dietrich of the SPD, a lawyer and former official in various federal ministries, including those of Olaf Scholz and Sigmar Gabriel. Dietrich aims to strategically realign the city by increasing commercial space, fostering economic independence from the automotive industry, and enhancing local job opportunities and city marketing. Also running is Kerstin Glier representing the CDU.
