Wolfgang Mayer appointed Deputy Governor of Salzburg
Wolfgang Mayer, the former ÖVP parliamentary group leader, has been appointed to the Salzburg state government. He will succeed Stefan Schnöll as Deputy Governor following Schnöll's decision to move into the private sector.
The appointment triggers a reshuffle of departmental responsibilities within the Salzburg ÖVP. Mayer will take over the portfolios for finance, transport, and health. Daniela Gutschi, who previously managed health, will now oversee arts, culture, and museums. Additionally, Governor Karoline Edtstadler will personally assume responsibility for the tourism sector.
Mayer, a political strategist with long-standing experience within the party, is expected to be formally elected by the Salzburg state parliament on November 4. Hans Scharfetter will succeed Mayer as the ÖVP parliamentary group leader.
