Wolfram Europa partners to produce defense chargeheads in Latvia

Estonian company Wolfram Europa has signed memorandums of understanding with Estonian drone manufacturer Krattworks and French autonomous systems developer Harmattan AI. The partnership aims to co-develop and mass-produce specialized chargeheads for autonomous defense systems and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Production is slated to take place at a €200 million complex currently under construction near Jēkabpils, Latvia. Once at full capacity, the facility is expected to produce 300 tons of hexogen (RDX) or 100 tons of octogen (HMX) annually, with the capability to fill and assemble 200,000 chargeheads per year.

Wolfram Europa CEO Magnus Valdemārs Sārs stated that the initiative combines independent European explosives production with next-generation drone technology to address defense capability gaps. The strategic goal is to secure reliable, independent supply chains for Europe’s expanding defense drone fleets and reduce reliance on vulnerable external sources.
