Wolfsberg conducts blackout emergency preparedness exercise

The Kärntner Landesregierung and the Wolfsberg District Authority organized the ‘COMBINED SUCCESS 2018’ emergency and disaster management exercise in East Carinthia from November 13 to 15, 2018.

The simulation focused on a sudden, long-term, and supra-regional failure of the electrical power supply, resulting in the loss of critical infrastructure and facilities. The exercise aimed to test the impact of such a blackout on official emergency command structures.

As part of the coordination, the AMRS Wolfsberg amateur radio station was tasked with supporting emergency services and command centers through radio communications. The amateur radio unit established a lead station at the main Wolfsberg fire station to maintain regional and supra-regional connections using various frequencies and methods, including SSB and WINLINK.
