Wollongong entertainment precinct to undergo $700 million redevelopment

Plans have been submitted to fast-track a $700 million redevelopment of the WIN Sports and Entertainment Precinct in Wollongong. The proposal, lodged with the NSW Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Department, seeks State Significant Development (SSD) status to accelerate the project.

The redevelopment includes the demolition of the existing WIN Entertainment Centre to make way for a new, state-of-the-art WIN Arena with a concert capacity of approximately 9,500. Additionally, WIN Stadium will undergo major upgrades, including the demolition and replacement of its north and south grandstands, which will increase the sporting event capacity to 21,600.

The project features a new foreshore hospitality plaza and a multi-storey ‘Beach Complex’ housing restaurants, bars, and function spaces. The development is expected to create roughly 600 construction jobs and 1,100 operational positions, with projections suggesting it could inject $550 million into the local economy annually.
