Wollongong football clubs prepare for new seasons

The Wollongong Wolves are preparing for their Australian Championship campaign, starting with a match against the Preston Lions in Melbourne. The team, led by coach Luke Wilkshire, features new signings including Nicholas Duarte, a former Central Coast Mariners striker. His brother, Sebastian Duarte, joins the squad following a successful season where he earned both player of the year awards for the Wolves and a selection for the Olyroos squad.

Separately, Wollongong United FC has announced the departure of head coach Rob Jonovski. His three-year tenure included a major Australia Cup run and a 2025 PL1 minor-premiers title. Jonovski reflected on his time at the club, noting the emotional significance of recent successes and the bonds formed with players and supporters.
