Wolt and ETSC partner to improve European urban road safety
Wolt has announced a new one-year pan-European partnership with the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) during European Mobility Week. The collaboration aims to examine how urban infrastructure impacts the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and micro-mobility riders, including delivery personnel.
The initiative comes as progress toward European road safety goals remains slow. According to the ETSC’s Road Safety Performance Index, Europe is currently on track to achieve only half of the required reduction in traffic fatalities needed to meet its 2030 targets.
As part of this partnership, the ETSC will conduct an independent policy study focusing on safer urban infrastructure. Key areas of research will include intersection design, separated cycling infrastructure, and urban speed management. The findings will be shared through a pan-European webinar and an in-person conference involving policymakers, local authorities, and road safety experts. Additionally, the organizations will explore how the firsthand experiences of delivery riders can contribute to broader knowledge regarding urban transport safety.
