Wolt data shows September as a major consumer reset in Germany

Data analysis from the delivery service Wolt indicates that September serves as a significant seasonal reset for consumers in Germany, surpassing the New Year in terms of reorganization and health-focused purchasing.

According to the report, pre-orders in September increase by 31 percent, compared to an 11 percent rise during the New Year period. There is a notable surge in health-related items, with pharmacy orders growing by 29 percent and vitamins or dietary supplements increasing by 31 percent. Additionally, sports nutrition orders rose by 21 percent.

Consumer search behavior reflects this shift toward productivity and planning. Search queries for ‘planners’ spiked by 90 percent, while searches for water bottles and notebooks increased by 66 percent and 53 percent, respectively. Regional trends vary, with Munich seeing significant growth in basket size, while cities like Berlin, Cologne, and Frankfurt show the strongest signals of consumers returning to structured daily routines.
